White Flexi Template Release

Joomla 1.5 Flexi Template v2.1 WhiteLeft

I've been using version 2.1 of the Flexi Template Skeleton pretty consistently now, and the bright colours are great as a guide. I have become so familiar with the elements of a Joomla template, however, that the first thing I do these days is strip away the colour.

So I have fashioned a minimalist, mostly-white template to use as a cleaner starting point - Download Flexi Template Skeleton v2.1 White.

The alternative was to simply delete any CSS responsible for styling and leave it to the browser (or the template maker) to decide how to format. The good thing about this template, I have found, is the styled content elements can be retained, as they look generic enough to blend in to most surrounding template designs. So for quick jobs, while I continue to customise the outer template, I tend to keep the content styling as is.

I had also thought that a ready-to-use, out-of-the-box template might be handy to some, and so I consider this my first true template release, however basic. Hooray!

I know I really should have created this as a template theme - one that could be chosen by the user via the front-end, or the admin using the back-end template parameters. Most of the changes to the CSS are contained in theme.css with exactly that in mind.

I have instead chosen to use the current version of the Flexi Template so I will not be introducing any improvements until next time. There are a few to be made and some spin-off templates to release too. Until then...enjoy!

Joomla tip of the day

When an admin clicks on a content page it gets locked to prevent others from editing it at the same time.

It becomes unlocked once the admin clicks "Cancel" or "Save".

However, if the admin closes the browser or leaves the page some other way, the file will remain locked until the admin in question returns to the content page and clicks "Save " or "Cancel".

Alternatively:

To unlock a page, logon as SuperAdmin and click System --> Global Checkin (at the end of the menu bar) this will unlock any files.
