Whiz Kid meets Hacker - Dublin in the 80'sI began teaching basic computing when I was 12, 28 years ago. I spent all of the 80's trying to outdo the other whiz kids, well aware that we were leaving our school teachers far behind. Nonetheless, I'm grateful that they had the foresight to install several Apple computers, something I took for granted until recently. Free as in SocietySince then I think I have spent about 6 months away from computers during a brief sabbatical. I believe passionately that open source and open standards are an essential component in a free society. Cutting through the Bullsh*tI believe there is a lot of unnecessary crap, from corporate lies to egotistical, jack-of-all-trade "experts" that turn my profession into a haven for cowboys. My job is to reduce the complications as best I can, so that my clients can focus on what they do best. ![]() |
